About Morse Code

Morse code is a method of transmitting text information as a series of on-off tones, lights, or clicks. It was developed by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in the 1830s.

Each letter and number is represented by a unique sequence of dots and dashes (or short and long signals). The International Morse Code encodes the 26 Latin letters A through Z, some non-Latin letters, the Arabic numerals, and a small set of punctuation and procedural signals.
